Workshop on online narratives: Who and how do we look? What do we see Views about Islamophobia, racism and discrimination
The lecturer at UVIC and member of the LMI, Raúl Martínez Corcuera, coordinates this workshop "Diferències?" at the Mercè Torrents Hall of the University of Vic on December 5 at 1 pm. Cultura visual
Maria Forga Martel and Raúl Martínez Corcuera, lecturers at the University of Vic and members of the LMI, presented the communication "The image of the Arab-Muslim society of the Mediterranean through the analysis of their documentaries" at the III International Congress of Visual Culture held at the UAO, Barcelona, on the 22nd and 23rd of May.
X Conference of the Bureau for Diversity
On May 23, 2017, the 10th Conference of the Bureau for Audiovisual Diversity will be held. It will be discussed on the media discourses towards the migrated people and the different approaches to the speech of hate. As every year, the IX Prize for Audiovisual Diversity will be awarded to audiovisual programs, productions or initiatives that better reflect cultural diversity. Raúl Martínez Corcuera, member of the LMI and professor of the UVIC participates in this session.

Diversity in television fiction
Raúl Martínez Corcuera, LMI researcher and professor at UVIC, participated in the report "Diversity in Television Fiction", published by the Mesa per a la Diversitat en l’Audiovisual of the CAC.
The study analyzes the role of people from diverse ethnic origins in fiction series, produced and/or broadcasted in Catalonia. A first conclusion of the study refers low diversity in the origin of protagonists.
Net.Art and Control
Ricardo Iglesias (from LMI UB), presents the exhibition Net.Art and Control in La Neomudejar, Centro de Artes de Vanguardia (Madrid) from January until May. The new technologies have opened unexpected spaces of aesthetic dialogue and, at the same time, they criticize positions of power and control. The exhibition presents a review on New Media Art development in the last twenty years from the production of the artist Ricardo Iglesias.
Tools for an appropriate media representation of immigration
Approved in the FAMI 2016 call of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, which has been granted to the Federation of Associations of SOS Racism in Spain.
The project aims to improve public perception, media and social networks of news on migration by improving knowledge and critical analysis of citizenship in the media; the aim try to visualize and generate communicative alternatives on discrimination, racism and xenophobia.

Raúl Martínez Corcuera, lecturer at the University of Vic and member of the LMI, participates in the project Appropriate Treatment of Immigration, approved in the FAMI 2016 call of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, which has been granted to the Federation of Associations of SOS Racism in Spain.
